Wedding Information

The first step to getting married is for us to meet and complete the required paperwork called The Notice of Intention to Marry.

We can have a chat about your special day and I can provide you with lots of sample Vows, Ring Exchanges and Giving Away options or help you to write your own.

Between the time we first meet and when you get married there is unlimited emails and phone calls between us included in the price.

It is not necessary to have a rehearsal however it prepares you and your partner for the day and helps to iron out any little issues that may arise.

On the big day I can provide a signing table and sound system that is adequate for an audience of approximately 100 people.

What are the Rules to get married in Australia and what documents do you need?

If you are not an Australian citizen or permanent resident of Australia and you want to live in Australia after your marriage, you should find out about getting a visa.

Marriage equality

The right to marry in Australia is no longer determined by sex or gender.

Before you get married

Before you get married, you need to:

  • complete a notice of intended marriage form
  • give it to an authorised marriage celebrant at least 1 month (but not more than 18 months) before your wedding

You can complete it if you are overseas and plan to get married in Australia.

Things I Will need from you

  • evidence of your date and place of birth (birth certificate or passport)
  • identity (driver’s licence or passport)
  • proof that a previous marriage has ended

After you get married

On your wedding day, three marriage certificates must be signed by:

  • you and your spouse
  • your authorised marriage celebrant
  • two witnesses, who must be over 18 years old

You will be given you a certificate of marriage on the day. This is a ceremonial certificate of your marriage.

I will then submit your marriage paperwork to the registry of births, deaths and marriages- external site in the state or territory you got married in.

After the successful registration you will receive a link to follow from Births Deaths and Marriages to submit a payment for your Official Certificate of Marriage to be sent to you via registered post.
